Wyvern are a kind of lesser Dragons who are almost as sentient, but have a little more of a primal nature driven into their actions. Their rear end is almost the same shape as a dragon’s, but they do not have front legs/arms. Instead, they use their wings as front legs. Their head and general overall body shape is slightly thinner and elongated except their legs which are a little stubbier when compared to a dragon. Their colors range from greens to reds to Grays. Wyverns are smaller than Dragons. A tall standing Wylean person can stand up to about the heel level of a full grown Wyvern. Wyverns enter adolescence around fifty years and reach adulthood roughly around two hundred years. Their actual life expectancy spans between eight to twelve hundred years, but can grow older if they are lucky enough to avoid too many deadly battles.
Wyverns do not have the same fire gland as dragons, but do have a similar connection to magic. They do not however, have the ability to create rifts between planes on their own and must rely on numbers, or sometimes even whole other Dragons in order to travel between worlds at all. This is part of the reason that Wyverns are a normal Wylean inhabitant after Uhnsogg’s war when they were trapped there after he was slain. Wyverns are far more hostile in their lifestyle, children are kept very protected by the mothers who protect the nests like the Cerberus themselves. The fathers take their young to train them in flight once they come of the age of about ten years.
Similar to dragons, wyverns can harness some magic. Though their abilities are far more limited to certain traits. Most Wyvern magic is more so passive rather than actively casting something. For example, a Wyvern roosts in a location long enough and the location will begin to exabit traits to their type. Or similarly, creatures and people who are exposed to a Wyvern's idle magic will be influenced by it. Or perhaps a wyvern who has a strong connection to nature might cause plants to flourish or vines to grow in even very stone oriented locations.
